Unfortunately many people may not be aware that they may actually bring the silverfish bug and their eggs into their home when they purchase furniture or products packed in cardboard box containers , especially if these products have been stored in a warehouse that is suitable to silverfish living conditions.

Question from someone in NYC: I found one small silverfish in my bed this morning but couldn’t find any more. I don’t want to rearrange all of my stuff. Would you suggest hiring an exterminator, or just forgetting about it?
Thanks!

I live in buffalo ny, and at my house I only have seen silverfish in my 2 bedrooms upstairs and the upstairs bathroom. I don’t know why there mostly in the bedrooms. My room isn’t very humid or damp. I have never seen where they hide…. At night I’ll just randomly glance around the room and there will be one there, normally I only see them once every few days, they are normaly on the ceiling or on the walls up high. During the summer I had my window open alot, and I’d see a few each night & for the most part I would squash them. I think I’ve seen a few out on the porch. But would they be able to climb up the side of my house and then get into the window? A few times I closed my window to see if any would be on the window trying to get in but nothing, I haven’t opened my window since September 2011, but I still see them. Today I saw one in a cardboard box full of sports cards. Why would they be in my room and not the basement? Could someone help me out and give me their opinion? For some reason, they realy realy freak me out so I want to get rid of them perminently. Thanks
