How to Get Rid of Ants in Your Home/House in Winter

Ants in your home/house in winter

That’s right ants in your home in winter.  Ants will get into your home in the winter.  Even if you think they are dormant, ants will find their way to your house.  Having ants in your house in winter is when they are looking for food or trying to find warmth.

You may not know this but Albuquerque and Rio Rancho have ants in the winter and usually they show up in the kitchen or bathroom.

Reasons for ants in your home in the winter

If you have radiant floor heating they could spring up all most any where in the structure.  Understand this, just like everything (or should I say, most everything) living things like to be warm.  And the thing is ants are no different.  They are going to try to be warm to.  So where is the most likely place they will show up, right in your home.

Food / Crumbs left out means ants in your home

Just like any time of year, don’t go and leave any food laying around.  Ants and other insects are going to find it.  Does not matter if it is the winter, these little critters can hunt it down, locate it and start to eat.  So make sure that you clean up after yourself.  Don’t leave dirty dishes laying around either.  Clean them when you are done eating.  This just makes good house keeping sense.  We don’t want any ants in your house in winter, or any time of year for that matter.

Ants will strike quickly if the conditions are right. What you do in the rest of the warmer months won’t bring ants but since they have a harder time existing out doors they will find your home now most hospitable.  Don’t let your home become a motel for ants in the winter months.  They are dirty and can spread disease as well.
